Underfloor heating · Southampton

How much does Underfloor heating cost in Southampton? (2026 price guide)

Retrofitting underfloor heating into an existing single room typically costs £1,200-£2,500 for electric systems, while whole-house water-based underfloor heating in a new build usually runs £3,500-£7,000 depending on floor area. Electric mat systems for smaller spaces like bathrooms generally cost £600-£1,200 including installation.

Prices depend mainly on whether an electric or water-based system is chosen, since water-based systems cost more to install but are cheaper to run, the total floor area being covered, whether existing flooring needs lifting and the subfloor built up, and how the system integrates with an existing boiler or heat pump. Retrofitting into existing floors is typically more expensive than installing during a new build or renovation.

Installing underfloor heating at the same time as other renovation work, when floors are already being lifted, usually keeps costs considerably lower.
