We were lucky enough to move into an individual new build property just over four years ago, everything is fantastic and we were most pleased with the quality that the small local builder had achieved. However, if there was one thing that they could have done better, that would have been to have fitted a heat pump instead of an LPG tank and gas boiler. Through the last couple of years we have had a few false starts trying to arrange a heat pump upgrade. Every sizable investment needs its due diligence of course, but picking an installer is quite challenging. We found that they fell into two broad camps, the large national groups such as British Gas and Octopus or the more local small artisanal installer. We soon learnt that any of the big boys would quickly give us a quote online but whilst that quote would be very competitive after the BUS grant, their installation was very prescriptive and to a formula to achieve that keen price. To maintain that competitive edge, the simplest and quickest route to installation would be adopted, often with pipes and cables run externally and internally over walls, sometimes from ground level to gutter height. With a nice crisp modern house, the last thing we wanted was this retrofit jumble defacing the building, in our opinion the install needed to look as if it had been there since the house was built. Employing a smaller organisation has its risks, are they any good, will they go bust, if they have a good reputation then they are booked up for the next three years and so on. It was by accident that we found Plymouth Heating Solutions and from the start they were happy to entertain our exacting standards and specific requirements without running a mile. Frankly I’m impressed that they stayed the course as we must have been quite challenging! But I’m glad they did as the outcome was exactly as required and I would truly give them the title of Artisans. I wholeheartedly echo all of the positive points of other reviewers, PHS’ work was always neat and tidy, they were always on time, the handover pack is a very nice addition to the install but most importantly, we have ended up with exactly what we wanted, an installation that looks like it has always been there since the house was built. I would have no hesitation in engaging PHS again nor recommending them to family and friends. Thank you Ross and Simon for your hard work and diligence, you deserve every success.

From start to finish Ross and Simon were absolutely excellent. They worked around our schedule to a tee and were true professionals throughout the whole process. Keeping us up to date day by day as the install went along. Cannot fault their work and the way they went about it. The house was covered from top to bottom in floor protector and everyday was left spotless. Without doubt the best installation for anything we've ever experienced. A very professional company to deal with. Simon and Ross have looked after us from the start. They are both highly skilled and knowledgeable in this field and have worked patiently and diligently to find solutions that worked best for us, from the siting of the pump to thermostatically controlling rooms within the property and beyond. Their communication is excellent and we consider them to be outstanding for reliability and competence, whilst always adhering to industry standards and practices. Simon and Ross upgraded our existing heating system, installing an air source heat pump, hot water cylinder, and some new radiators. Everything about their work inspires confidence. Always friendly and courteous, they took time to listen to our questions and preferences, as well as explaining a lot about what they were doing. Their work is very tidy, and they put a lot of thought into fitting the cylinder into the awkward corner which suited us best. At handover they gave us electronic and hard copies of all paperwork, careful demonstrations of the controls, plus a list of potential teething troubles to look out for. When one of those did crop up they came out immediately to rectify the problem. We're very satisfied – highly recommended.

We had the old boiler taken out, new boiler fitted, new radiators fitted etc.... Absolutely great team, clean, polite, fast working, top marks for every aspect of respect for our property, work ethics and hard work. Simon and Ross have just completed our new Air source heat pump installation. We highly recommend them. They work hard, and effectively and arrived on time every day, and finished when they said they would…the pipe work even looks lovely! I’m now sitting by a cosy radiator😊. We asked a lot of questions and they were both ready willing and able to answer all of them. They are a delight! And (so far) we are delighted. We are reassured by their promise to be available should anything arise that worries us. Considering all the upheaval we couldn’t be more happy.
